What we collect

The calculator itself collects nothing. All calculations happen locally in your browser. No data you enter — chainring size, cassette, wheel size, power, weight, or cadence — is transmitted to any server or stored anywhere outside your own device.

Google Analytics

BikeGearCalc.com uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. This is standard anonymized traffic data — page views, general location (country/region), browser type, and referring source. It does not identify individual visitors. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies

The calculator itself uses no cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for traffic measurement. These are analytics cookies only — not advertising or tracking cookies.

Shareable links

When you use the "Copy comparison link" feature, your drivetrain inputs are encoded into the URL as query parameters. This data lives only in the URL you share — nothing is stored on our servers. Anyone you share the link with can see the inputs you encoded in it.

Third-party services

BikeGearCalc.com loads fonts from Google Fonts and the Chart.js library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. These are standard CDN requests. See Google's privacy policy for details on their data handling.

Children

BikeGearCalc.com does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be updated. Given the nature of this tool, significant changes are unlikely.
